This little fellow was abandoned! The people caring for him temporarily leave soon and cannot take him along… he is fine in the house, ok with other animals, loving smart and playful and so far, doesn’t bark!
Can you offer him the home he needs or help him find it?
Μπορείς να του δώσεις την οικογένεια που χρειάζεται ή να βοηθήσεις να την βρει;
A good question!!!
They are doing OK !!!
They have passed a cold winter, but now that the sun is here, the summer is almost there, so the worst is over!!
As said before Hebe comes regularly to have a look in the stable to see how Yucca is doing or does she have other motives???
Yes she does! She is trying to steal Yucca’s dinner! Like if she is ever being forgotten when it is dinner time!!!
He follows where ever Hebe goes (as you might be lucky to get some extra dinner too!) and is happy that Easter has passed & he survived it again!
He is also wondering when these people are coming again to take his coat off as he is getting hotter every day!!
Soon Larry, soon! Just like those people clipping your hooves and those of Hebe & Daphne. Their teeth will get checked as well!
More about that visit later….
Weeks have passed again and unfortunately not a lot has changed in Yucca’s situation…
There have been weeks when we needed to hoist her up twice a day, followed by that amazing week when this was only necessary in the morning
As soon as she was up she went out into the sunshine, walked around, collected her own breakfast , stood in the sunshine (as nothing is nicer than that lovely warm sun on your old bones!) and when it was enough for her, she returned back to her stable.
At this point we thought we were almost there…until she went back to lying down in her stable again during the day, so back to hoisting her up twice a day We then talked about calling the vet to humanely euthanize her….
That was last week….now this week she seems better again and so far once a day we need to lift her up. Something that she doesn’t like particularly, but as soon as she is up she is very happy again. One day this week it was impossible for us to hoist her up as we had our bazaar where our attendance was required…Yucca had to wait…she was so happy to see us in the afternoon!!! She almost started braying again
Some people might think we are crazy for continuing to do all this with her every day, but we still hope that she will miraculously stay up all day, and when she lays down she will get up by herself again…something she hasn’t done for a while now, till she got an injection this week and she was up in 2 seconds….
Our Yucca is not making our life any easier at the moment, but when you have met her & you might be able to see from the photos above, she has lightened up our lives with her character!
I am Mati, born three years ago and grew up in the wild.
Three months ago I got a bad eye infection, which weakened me a lot. But fortunately there was this nice lady that found me and helped me.
First I got antibiotics which unfortunately wasnt’t successful
The only solution remaining was to remove my eye with an operation. I was very afraid of that, but I knew my foster-mum meant it well with me.
As I woke up from the anaesthesia, I felt very strange. I had a plastic collar round my neck which impaired me very much.
But I went on trusting, therefore there was good food three times a day
After five days I got released from this piece of plastic around my neck and I felt much better!
I was cared and loved very much, because of that I felt even better.
Once again I had to go to the doctor to get ride of the stitches which fortunately didn’t hurt.
Now I am living happily outside with my other friends again and I’m also not afraid of humans anymore
Many thanks to all the people who gave donations to the Cretan Animal Welfare Group, because without them I couldn’t been helped and would not be alive now.
Note of the Cretan Animal Welfare Group: We would like to use this oppurtunity as well to thank our donors for supporting us, making it able for us to help animals like Mati. We would also like to thank Mati’s carer for helping him getting to the vet, giving him his medication and making sure he gets all the necessary he needed during his recovery! Without people like her we can’t help needy animals!!! We are only as strong as our supporters! Thank you!
