Weeks have passed again and unfortunately not a lot has changed in Yucca’s situation…
There have been weeks when we needed to hoist her up twice a day, followed by that amazing week when this was only necessary in the morning

As soon as she was up she went out into the sunshine, walked around, collected her own breakfast
, stood in the sunshine (as nothing is nicer than that lovely warm sun on your old bones!) and when it was enough for her, she returned back to her stable.
At this point we thought we were almost there…until she went back to lying down in her stable again during the day, so back to hoisting her up twice a day
We then talked about calling the vet to humanely euthanize her….
That was last week….now this week she seems better again and so far once a day we need to lift her up. Something that she doesn’t like particularly, but as soon as she is up she is very happy again. One day this week it was impossible for us to hoist her up as we had our bazaar where our attendance was required…Yucca had to wait…she was so happy to see us in the afternoon!!! She almost started braying again

Some people might think we are crazy for continuing to do all this with her every day, but we still hope that she will miraculously stay up all day, and when she lays down she will get up by herself again…something she hasn’t done for a while now, till she got an injection this week and she was up in 2 seconds….
Our Yucca is not making our life any easier at the moment, but when you have met her & you might be able to see from the photos above, she has lightened up our lives with her character!
