Ο παρακάτω μικρός είναι από σπίτι… και βρέθηκε στον Κουσέ εδώ και λίγες μέρες.. Έχει λουράκι κόκκινο.. και είναι ευγενέστατος…
Τον μαζέψαμε.. με την ελπίδα να βρεθει ο ιδιοκτήτης… Για την ώρα ήμαστε πλήρεις… και θα ηταν καλό να βρεθούν.. Από τη στιγμή που μπήκε στο σπίτι… κοιμάται…

Hello!
I am Mati, born three years ago and grew up in the wild.
Three months ago I got a bad eye infection, which weakened me a lot. But fortunately there was this nice lady that found me and helped me.
First I got antibiotics which unfortunately wasnt’t successful 
The only solution remaining was to remove my eye with an operation. I was very afraid of that, but I knew my foster-mum meant it well with me.
As I woke up from the anaesthesia, I felt very strange. I had a plastic collar round my neck which impaired me very much.
But I went on trusting, therefore there was good food three times a day 
After five days I got released from this piece of plastic around my neck and I felt much better!
I was cared and loved very much, because of that I felt even better.
Once again I had to go to the doctor to get ride of the stitches which fortunately didn’t hurt.
Now I am living happily outside with my other friends again and I’m also not afraid of humans anymore 
Many thanks to all the people who gave donations to the Cretan Animal Welfare Group, because without them I couldn’t been helped and would not be alive now.

We would also like to thank Mati’s carer for helping him getting to the vet, giving him his medication and making sure he gets all the necessary he needed during his recovery! A lovely story published recently in the local paper about a donkey which fell down a well. The locals couldn’t get it out and decided they would bury it alive so they started throwing dirt into the hole. However, the donkey kept shaking the soil off and gradually the floor raised the donkey so it could get out. A moral lesson to shake off what life throws at us and step on it to get a step higher…

Εχθές ήταν η διορία για την συλλογή υπογραφών για την Γραπτή Διακήρυξη 49/2011 με συνολικά 395 Ευρωβουλευτές να έχουν υπογράψει (χρειαζόμασταν 378)! 15 από τους 22 Έλληνες Ευρωβουλευτές με τους οποίους επικοινωνήσαμε, υπέγραψαν την Διακήρυξη υπέρ της ευημερίας των ζώων και της δημιουργίας ανώτατου ορίου 8 ωρών για τα ζώα που μεταφέρονται προς σφαγή.
Ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ στους εθελοντές μας που έδωσαν τον χρόνο και τον κόπο τους και στην Ευγενία Ματαράγκα της GAWF, που έδωσε μεγάλο μέρος του χρόνου της για να πείσει τους πολιτικούς μας να υπογράψουν!
ΚΑΝΤΕ ΚΛΙΚ ΕΔΩ ΓΙΑ ΠΕΡΙΣΣΟΤΕΡΕΣ ΠΛΗΡΟΦΟΡΙΕΣ
Yesterday was the deadline for the Written Declaration 49/2011 signatures with a total of 395 MEPs having signed it (378 were needed)! 15 of the 22 Greek MEPs who were contacted signed the Declaration in favor of animals and making 8hours the highest limit for live transport with the purpose of slaughter.
A big thank you to our volunteers who spent time and effort on this and to Evgenia Mataraga of GAWF, who gave much of her time to persuade our politicians to sign!

Note from one of our volunteers…
Reading about a large Humane Society in USA with a problem which we have often encountered set me thinking.
Baby, still looking for a home after 5 months despite being small, cute, wavy hair, friendly and the perfect companion…except for one thing.
Baby had the misfortune to be born with black hair!
Does that make a difference you might ask? Is her character any different because of it? Does she have health problems? Is she aggressive because of it?
The answer of course is NO but for some strange reason black dogs are less likely to be rehomed and more likely to be euthanized. Three times Baby has had a chance of a home, only to be overlooked for a lighter colour competitor.
Next time you think of taking a new friend into your family, please, don’t walk on by that dark haired stranger, stop, look and give them a chance. You could just find the best friend you ever had.
