Bonar was found in Piskopiano, a village notorious for poisoning, by Danish supporters. He appeared to have a back injury, the cause of which is unknown, but could have been the result of a traffic accident or someone kicking him. Either way, he was in need of veterinary treatment.
Surgery was successful, opening and cleaning the badly infected joint from within however, was challenging.
Despite the surgery and his happy life now at the haven, it is important we find him a new family as soon as possible. Being an attractive and well behaved hunting dog in Crete does not secure a happy future.
However, action is being taken in this area with the Subsidised Neutering Project providing 100% of the costs for neutering and micro-chipping hunting dogs!
